Sorry, I have no memorabilia (I'm a WEST Covina native), but am interested to know more about "The Sugar Bowl". What is it, where will it be, and when will it be opening -- you say this coming summer? Thanks... Posted by Paulinski a 44 year old from Covina on 04/01/06

The Sugar Bowl will be a '40s - '50s style diner/malt shop, on the corner of Badillo and Citrus in downtown Covina. It will feature Hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, soups, Italian Gelato ice cream,Thriftymaid ice cream, malts, sundaes, banana splits and much much more. The idea came from the original "Pop Jenk's Sugar Bowl", which closed 50 years ago in downtown Covina. UPDATE!! Looks like "The Sugar Bowl" won't be opening anytime soon, in the Downtown area. The Champion Family Foundation cancelled the lease, 3 days before the equipment was to all be delivered, after 1 1/2 years of delays. Negotiations have totally failed to open "The Sugar Bowl" at that location. We are looking for a new Downtown location and post any new developments. Posted by Collector a 56 year old on 10/01/07
