MEASURE A !?
Now, i have been in Covina now, what, 23 of my 25 years of life, and it seems to ME anyway, that some things in our "quaint" ,"small", "fine" town is UP TO ITS OLD WAYS. Didnt anyone learn from 1993? Now Measure A, IF PASSED...allows Council members to change that "utility" tax whenver, to suit ITS needs not its citizens, they want, without voter approval? Now my parent have been ranting about this Tax for YEARS...and if I were a home owner , like my parents, that would leave a bitter taste in my mouth knowing THAT can be changed, without consent...someone PLEASE ELLABORATE ... Noah, have you ever gone to a city council meeting? There is one next Tuesday, April 17. The council meetings are every first and third tuesday of every month at 7:30 pm. Have you looked at the City's Website? Have you gone to any of the Town Hall meetings? Government 101 Classes. Or the Citizens Academy? I'm not here to change your mind but for you to make up your own mind. But in order for you to make up your own mind you need to be informed with the true facts. Please get involved and get informed. Find out what less than $20 a month paid by the average homeowner gives all the citizens and visitors of Covina. Rick Posted by Rick a 57 year old on 04/10/07

Rick, I couldn't agree with you more that Noah, and many others would gain important knowledge by attending council meeting or viewing the city website. But,he seems to be right on target with the facts on measure A. I believe the biggest reason that Measure A was defeated was that it gave Council the authority to change the Utility Tax without voter approval,in the future. If the new citizen outreach group wants to actually reach the citizens, this should be their first issue to address.
